VIM - Grammar.
I’ve been quiet for the last week or so because I’ve been “doing”. Now that I have the basics of VIM down I’ve been finding myself using combinations of keystrokes inside of vim to get tasks done; tasks such as
- Select (v) the four (4) above (k) lines of text – v4k
- Delete (d) two (2) words (2) – d2w
Wrapping your head around it is just a case of having the concepts framed correctly and then applying the concepts to concrete tasks. Working like this using combinations of verbs nouns and modifiers has been referred to as the grammar of vim and it’s a great way to think about modifying and navigating text with vim.
It really is a very quick way of working because the commands are no longer cryptic and foreign; they are known and familiar.
