Day 19 - Done
I start my weeks on a Saturday. I’ve done this to hack around “cheat day” mentality. On a keto diet, there are no cheat days where you can ram everything into your face and label it a refeed. I’m now seeing Saturdays as a day that sets the tone for the rest of the week, rather than a big blow out as a reward for staying on target over the week. It’s working. I was over my macros in the spreadsheet today, not by much, but I was over what I’d say I’d do and so that meant taking my sixteen grams of 100% chocolate out. I suspect if I’d started my weeks on a Sunday or a Monday, then I would have caved tonight. But as this is the first day of the week, and I did not want to crack on the last four hours of the first day of the week. That’s just weak.
I’m finding that putting the weekly macros together, working them into a menu and then working that menu down into a shopping list is still a time-consuming part of the setup for every week. I hope to get to the point where it is no more effort for me to do this than it is to dream up a menu and then break that down into ingredients.
I took the first ketone reading since Wednesday. I suspect something I ate on Tuesday night kicked me out of Ketosis and my reading today was also low. Looks like I’m going to have to pay attention over the next few days to make sure that I stay on track. As long as I let future me make all the food decisions for current me, then I will be fine.
